This volume, originally published in 1904, delves into the second part of the 'classical age' of Ottoman poetry, spanning from 1520 to the early seventeenth century, and continues into the subsequent 'late classical age' up to approximately 1700. It highlights this era as a period of significant Persian influence on Ottoman poetry, reaching its zenith during the reign of Suleyman (1520-66). Many of the most celebrated Ottoman poets, from various backgrounds and regions of the empire, were active during these two centuries.
