E.J.W. Gibb (2013)
This sixth volume completes E.J.W. Gibb's monumental study of Ottoman poetry. Originally published between 1900 and 1909, Gibb's work was the first extensive account of Ottoman literature in English. While the first four volumes trace the development of poetry influenced by Persian literature, and the fifth introduces the "New School" inspired by French models, this final volume provides the original Ottoman Turkish texts for all poems previously translated. It is an essential resource for understanding the literary works discussed throughout the series.
