This collection of documents presents descriptions of Maklay Coast by scholars from various disciplines, spanning from the late 19th to the early 21st century. It includes diary entries from naturalist O. Finsch, excerpts from field notebooks by P. Lawrence, the diary of physical anthropologist O.M. Pavlovsky, texts by oral history specialist M. Mennis, and field materials from Moscow State University and Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences from the 21st century. These texts are published in Russian for the first time and are accompanied by geographical, ethnographic, and historical commentary.
