After losing a duel to Griffith, the charismatic leader of the Band of the Hawk, Guts is compelled to join his mercenary ranks. Together, they face numerous fierce battles, during which the solitary young man, who tried to appear an outcast, begins to realize he is not alone and finds loyal companions.
