Two weeks after returning from the front, Iris Winnow finds herself heartbroken and the war far from over. Roman is missing, and the city of Oath remains unaware of the escalating conflict. When Iris and Attie get another opportunity to track Dacre’s movements, they embark on a westward journey despite the risks, anticipating the war’s arrival in their unprepared city. Meanwhile, Roman, having lost his memory after waking in Dacre’s realm, begins writing articles for Dacre. A mysterious letter sparks his curiosity, leading him to a correspondence that forces a choice: stand with Dacre or betray the god who aided him.
