Ancient civilizations like Egypt, Sumer, Greece, Rome, and Scythia had vastly different dietary habits compared to today. Sugar was primarily used for medicinal purposes, and fruits like bananas and oranges were merely heard of. Beverages like tea, coffee, and cocoa were absent, and the alcohol content of drinks rarely exceeded 14β16 percent.
