Seventeen-year-old Sadie Su, expelled from her third boarding school, returns to her family's vineyard estate with the expectation of staying out of trouble. However, boredom often leads her to seek out difficult situations. Meanwhile, Emerson Tate, a student from a less affluent background, hopes to focus on basketball and a budding romance during his senior year, but Sadie's return brings up painful memories he wishes to forget. Fifteen-year-old Miles Tate possesses the ability to see the future, including a vision of school violence that he believes will inevitably occur, a premonition he shares with a new girl in town who seems to understand his past.
