This edition attempts to recreate the portrait of the Wallachian ruler Vlad Basarab, whose dark fame inspired Bram Stoker's renowned novel. The book features a new translation of the novel, the chapter "Dracula's Guest" not included in the canonical text, and written testimonies from two contemporaries of Vlad the Impaler: an anonymous Russian author and the Austrian minstrel M. Beheim. A serious scholarly apparatus, including articles by philologists, detailed notes, and excerpts from R. Florescu and R. McNally's "In Search of Dracula," distinguishes this original historical and literary project from purely commercial publications. The editorial team believes Russian readers will appreciate the new translation by Dr. T. Krasavchenko, recognizing that Stoker himself, close to the Golden Dawn order, viewed the work not as a classic "horror novel" but as a complex system of occult symbols concealing the profound history of a sinister vampire.
