This collection features three novellas-memoirs reflecting on the recent past. The first, "Panka," depicts the lives of ordinary workers in the early 1960s, their simple joys and hardships, contrasting with the prosperity of others. It centers on the tragedy of a dedicated metro construction worker. The second novella, "Kalinka-Malinka," is a monologue by a 1970s Intourist guide, offering a glimpse into interactions with foreign tourists in the Soviet Union. The third, "In Valentinovka, at the Dacha," sketches a dacha summer in the early 1950s, filled with diverse lives and events.
