This volume presents lectures by Rudolf Steiner, delivered in Basel in September 1909, focusing on the Gospel of Luke. The lectures primarily address the 'pre-history of the great Event of Christ.' Steiner discusses events that occurred before John's Baptism, prior to the entry of Christ's Being into the three bodies of Jesus of Nazareth. The text also explores leadership centers in ancient Atlantis and the development of human consciousness in the post-Atlantean era. It examines the tasks of the Bodhisattvas and the Buddha, and the merging of the great spiritual currents of Buddhism and Zoroastrianism within Jesus of Nazareth.
