A series of ritualistic murders unfolds in Moscow, drawing writer Andrey Gorsky and TV journalist Alexandra Sobolevskaya into the investigation alongside official investigators. These crimes are connected to the disappearance of a mysterious ancient Slavic manuscript from the patriarch's sacristy. The pursuit of justice and the battle against infernal forces lead the protagonists beyond the boundaries of the real world, into the realm of pagan gods.
