This crime thriller revisits the trio of heroes introduced in Mr. Mercedes. In 1978, Morris Bellamy, an avid reader, commits murder to obtain unpublished works by his favorite author, John Rothstein. In 2009, Pete Saubers discovers a trunk containing cash and Rothstein's notebooks, a find that puts him in danger.
