In 1970, Kenzo Takada launched his first boutique in Paris, significantly impacting the fashion industry. His collections, inspired by ethnic and nomadic styles, utilized luxurious, vibrantly patterned textiles. These designs challenged haute couture conventions while upholding the quality of traditional European craftsmanship. Takada blended Parisian fashion influences with Japanese kimonos, boldly combining colors, prints, cuts, and materials. His joyful and whimsical palette offered a distinct contrast to the subtle tailoring of contemporary Parisian couturiers.
