A European holiday for Lewis Barnavelt and his Uncle Jonathan leads them to England, where they meet a distant relative, Cousin Pelham. The elderly gentleman resides in a foreboding house known as Barnavelt Manor, a place holding many dark secrets within its ancient walls. Three centuries prior, a witch hunter accused Lewis's ancestors of sorcery and sought to burn them at the stake.
