In late 19th-century England, seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth, daughter of a lord, finds her passion in forensic science and anatomy, pursuits unsuitable for a young aristocrat. This secret hobby, shared only with her uncle and his student, Thomas Cresswell, is thrust into the spotlight with the arrival of the notorious serial killer, Jack the Ripper. Audrey Rose joins the investigation, suspecting the killer is someone close to her. Following the events in London, a heartbroken Audrey Rose travels to Romania with Thomas Cresswell. They arrive at Bran Castle, a renowned forensic medicine school and the supposed home of Vlad the Impaler. As she immerses herself in her studies, new crimes emerge, and whispers of Dracula's return fill the castle, leading Audrey Rose to believe a copycat is at play and she must once again unmask the perpetrator.
