This book chronicles the history of the Grodno Holy Nativity-Theotokos Monastery through the service of two prominent abbesses: Elena Konovalova and Maria (Risitskaya). Abbess Elena fostered the monastery's prosperity in the early 20th century and later safeguarded it and its residents during World War I evacuations, as well as through revolutionary turmoil and early repressions. Subsequently, Abbess Gavriila managed to preserve the monastery during periods of persecution against the Church and the Khrushchev Thaw.
The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of significant historical events, including two world wars, phases of Polish and Soviet repressions in Belarus and Ukraine, the loss of like-minded individuals, and the devastation of church life. The story of the monastery and its leaders is presented within the context of Russia's presence on its western borders, dating back to the 15th century.
