В кабачке «Блиндаж» два обаятельных студента, главных героя, полушутя-полусерьезно учреждают «орден тайного милосердия» и посвящают друг друга в его рыцари. Отсюда начинается их путь, названный «совиной тропой», пролегающий через стабильные нулевые и бурные десятые годы. Их судьбы переплетаются с узнаваемыми питерскими пейзажами: садами, скверами, набережными и художественными галереями, включая арт-кафе на улице Белинского, где кипела культурная жизнь. Роман исследует темы дружбы, становления личности и культурных изменений на фоне постоянно меняющегося города, ведя героев в неизведанное будущее. From this starting point, their journey—metaphorically dubbed "the owl's path"—unfolds through the stable 2000s and the roaring 2010s. Their intertwined lives are set against the backdrop of iconic St. Petersburg locales, including gardens, squares, embankments, and art galleries, notably an art cafe on Belinsky Street, a hub for philosophical discussions among poets and artists. The novel explores themes of friendship, identity formation, and cultural shifts within a dynamically changing city, propelling its characters towards an unknown yet significant future. The narrative opens in early September, capturing the lingering summer warmth as the protagonists stand within the historic arcade of the Novobirzhevoy Gostiny Dvor, by the Neva River.
