A century after the events that reshaped Russia's destiny, the deep-seated causes and course of the Great Russian Revolution remain subjects of debate and study. L. Mlechin's book focuses on the unfolding of events in 1917, from the assassination of Grigori Rasputin to the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly. The author analyzes the key figures of the revolution, presenting them in a new light. Particular attention is given to why Russia, after experimenting with various forms of governance, chose a path more severe than the tsarist regime and abandoned the achievements of the early 20th century.
