Church fathers teach that prayer is a conversation with God, while reading or hearing the Holy Gospel is God's voice speaking to us. It is crucial to understand that these words are a personal message to each individual today. The Lord desires for everyone to reflect on the kind of person they should become and how the Heavenly Father wishes to see them. God's Word acts as a lamp, illuminating the book of our lives, enabling us to grasp its true content and to evaluate our thoughts, words, and actions from a Christian perspective. By possessing the greatest treasure – the Holy Gospel – we can and must transform our lives, infusing them with spiritual meaning and God-pleasing deeds.
