Volkamer, a Nuremberg merchant and devotee of exotic citrus, commissioned 256 plates showcasing 170 varieties, many life-size. The work details planting, care, and propagation, alongside descriptions of each fruit's size, shape, color, scent, and origin. Each plate also captures verdant landscapes from Northern Italy to Nuremberg, blending botanical beauty with poetic garden tours.
