This collection features commented translations of essential texts from the Gnostic Christian tradition. Many of these writings, including "The Gospel of Truth," "The Gospel of Judas," and "The Discourse of the Savior," originate from 4th-century manuscripts discovered in 1945 at Nag Hammadi. Their unearthing initiated comprehensive study of Gnosticism, a doctrine previously reconstructed mainly through the writings of church heresiologists. The presented materials offer direct engagement with original Gnostic texts, facilitating an understanding of this religious movement that was contemporary with and competitive to early Christianity.
