This book provides a comprehensive review of international treaties, case law, and state practice concerning offshore oil rigs. It delves into the international legal framework governing these installations, analyzing provisions and preparatory works of relevant treaties. The study also examines national legislation from major offshore oil and gas producers, alongside the practices of international entities like OSPAR. The findings highlight that despite their growing significance, offshore oil installations are currently governed by fragmented and unclear international legal rules.
