Forbidden knowledge has fallen into the hands of Pator Klaver, suggesting tacit consent from the Order's leaders. Konrad and Helena suspect the conspiracy against the emperor runs deeper. However, the abduction of the prince, the emperor's grandson and heir, disrupts all plans. As Klaver and the traitors gather strength, a severe illness, revealed to be a curse, impedes Vonvalt's investigation.
