A cosmetics concern owner sponsors a theater where makeup artist Stepanida Kozlova gets a job. During a performance, an arson incident occurs, resulting in the death of a cleaner. An investigator asks Stepanida to help his assistant infiltrate the theater by posing as her boyfriend to investigate the crime.
