This book offers a scholarly account of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land undertaken in the summer of 1900. The expedition was led by Bishop Arseny (Stadnitsky), Rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, accompanied by professors and students from the academy. The group also included N.F. Kapterev, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and biblical scholar V.N. Myshtsyn. The publication is based on materials prepared by students who later became notable figures in various fields. This academic pilgrimage, the first of its kind in Russian scholarship, was facilitated by the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society.
