This publication is the first to comprehensively cover the history of low-rise residential construction in Leningrad during the early post-war years (1945–1950). The book examines two- and three-story buildings, sometimes referred to as "German houses," and the daily life of the city during that period. It features rare archival photographs and blueprints from the 1940s, alongside contemporary color images of buildings in a district near the Narva Gate. This example of late 1940s architecture, embodying the spirit of its time, faced demolition.
