Написать о Великой Отечественной войне сегодня – сложная задача. Многое уже написано, многое рассказано, и живых свидетелей тех событий осталось так мало. Написать же о ней для подростков – вдвойне сложно. Кажется, современную молодежь интересуют совсем другие вещи… Но оказывается, нет!
Именно подростки присудили этой книге первое место на Всероссийском конкурсе «Книгуру», откликнувшись на её пронзительную историю с невероятной силой. Сложная, неоднозначная, она не щадит чувств, выворачивая душу наизнанку, но одновременно заставляет глубже понять и прочувствовать горькую правду войны.
Перед вами предстанут юные партизаны: по пояс в грязи и снегу, они конвоируют перепуганных полицаев, хитроумно выменивают у немцев гранаты на тушенку по ленд-лизу, отчаянно борются за выживание, мечтая лишь о тепле и еде. Димка, потерявший семью в первые дни войны, взявший в руки оружие и жаждущий мести. Дерзкий Саныч, которого цыганка уберегла от пули и объектива вражеского фотоаппарата – прирожденный боец и болтун, боится лишь трех вещей: предательства, топтуна из бабушкиных сказок и строгой Алевтины. Заботливый Ковалец, приглаживающий волосы франтовской расческой, но в бою – смелый и бесстрашный воин. И Шурик по кличке Щурый, мечтающий наконец получить свой первый пистолет…
XX век захлопнул за собой двери, унося миллионы жизней, пожертвованных на алтаре бесчисленных войн. Но сквозь пороховой дым, сквозь туман времени смотрят на нас Саныч, Ковалец, Алька и многие другие. Кто они? Сложно сказать однозначно. Ясно одно: все они – "Облачный полк".
"Облачный полк" – современная книга о войне и её героях, о судьбах, о долге и о мужестве жить. Книга, написанная в традициях отечественной юношеской прозы, но смело выходящая за их рамки. To write about the Great Patriotic War today is a daunting task. So much has already been written and told, and so few living witnesses remain. To write about it for teenagers is doubly challenging. It seems that today's youth are interested in entirely different things… But it turns out, they are not.

The meticulous Kovalets, smoothing his hair with a dandy's comb, yet a courageous and desperate warrior. And Shurik, nicknamed Shchuryy, dreaming of finally getting his first pistol…
The 20th century closed its doors, taking with it millions of lives sacrificed on the battlefields of countless wars. But through the smoke of battle, through the haze of time, Sanich, Kovalets, Alka, and many others look at us. Who are they? It's hard to say definitively. One thing is clear: they are all the Cloud Regiment.
"The Cloud Regiment" is a contemporary book about war and its heroes, about destinies, duty, and the courage to live. A book written in the tradition of Russian young adult prose, yet boldly transcending its limitations. The absence of bombastic heroism, the simplicity, the unspoken, the ordinariness of war – all this places the book alongside the best works of the 20th century.
In addition to the Kniguru award, "The Cloud Regiment" has also been awarded the V. Krapivin and P. Bazhov prizes, and was longlisted for the I. P. Belkin Prize and shortlisted for the L. Tolstoy "Yasnaya Polyana" Prize.
